The Kingsbridge Battle is a tightly contested annual photographic competition between Kingsbridge & District Camera Club (KDCC) and Paignton Photographic Club (PPC). This years event was hosted by KDCC.
I am pleased to say that despite KDCC putting up some amazing photographs, it was Paignton that emerged winners of the competition with a score of 502 points, Kingsbridge coming very close runners up with 497 points, just 5 points adrift. This was despite Kingsbridge leading by 6 points at the half-way stage so a creditable fight back by Paignton in the second half of the competition. Had there been a third section who knows what the score might have been!
This gallery, organised in no particular order, illustrates the wealth of good photography on show from both clubs. Also shown for each image are those selected by judge Marko Dutka as commended, highly commended and those awarded bronze, silver and gold awards. Marko, who was unknown to most of us, is a photographer and judge of merit on both the UK and the international circuit. His commentary on each image was engaging and thorough and while not everyone in the audience agreed with his scoring, no one could doubt his integrity and reasoning for scoring each image as he did. In competition it is always interesting to hear the commentary delivered by judges as these often include nuggets of wisdom as well as providing opportunities to revisit our images in order to make small adjustments.
A huge thank you to the KDCC committee for organising and running the event and to Jan Finbow in particular for her help and support in liaising with us here at PPC. A big thank you also to David Shawe in helping us to present all of the images shown in the competition here on our website. We very much look forward to next years battle and to welcoming KDCC to Paignton.
